Musical Theatre

We have three Musical Theatre classes at different levels, starting from 6 or 7 years of age and going right up to an Advanced level.

We study the bbodance Musical Theatre syllabus and exams are held in September each year.  Exams are not compulsory, but the syllabus offers great technique and style which helps the students when it comes to performing.  The bbodance syllabus incorporates a creative learning strand which allows the students to learn about costume design, history, choreographers and the other elements involved in the theatre.

Once the exams have been sat each year the students will begin learning their dances for the showcase.

Prices are from $45 per month for the Junior 45 minute class once a week and $52.50 for hour-long intermediate and advanced classes.

“ Dance is for everybody.  I believe the dance came from the people and that it should always be delivered back to the people.”

- Alvin Ailey

"My daughter is definitely NOT a girly-girl and I don't consider myself to be a "dance mum" so I was a bit nervous when she decided she wanted to learn musical theatre and contemporary dance at the Sara Anderson School of Dance.

To my surprise and delight, she has continued learning to dance here for over two years and she is improving in grace, strength and physicality, but more important than that she just loves going to classes.

And I feel welcome too! Definitely no pretentions here at this dance school. I highly recommend it."
