Our classes focus on developing a strong Jazz technique where students are expected to have a basic knowledge of dance and a willingness to learn in a low-pressure environment. We do not at this stage study an exam syllabus.
The warm-up concentrates on strength, flexibility and knowledge of the elements of jazz dance. This continues with combinations working on turns, kicks, and jumps. The class ends with a fun choreography focusing on musicality, clean lines and movement, acting and performance.
Our jazz classes are the perfect mix of technique, exciting choreography and the opportunity to be oneself.
Although external examinations are not required, students will still be formally assessed throughout the year. If the tutor has seen the relevant improvements and progress the student will be invited to try the next level. This decision is at the sole discretion of the tutor and Miss Sara.
We are also offering a new class in 2019 - Broadway Heels which will train dancers to develop versatility, control, acting and technique. Students will be challenged in a funny and positive environment to develop their performance skills dancing with character heels and enjoying the choreographies of Broadway. More information is included on Musical Theatre page.
Prices range from $52.50 per month, for a 60 minute class once a week. The Heels class is slightly longer per week and costs $65 per month.
