Students' hair must be off the face and secured for all classes. This is to eliminate any unwanted distractions and to allow all students to feel like a dancer. The specific hairstyle depends on the type of class. Sara can advise you on hairsyles.

Annual Showcase Performance

Every year at the end of Term 1 the Sara Anderson School of Dance puts on an exciting showcase performance in the Papa Hou Theatre at the Christchurch YMCA We endeavour to make this event as big as possible and it gives the students a feel for what being in a theatre is like and to catch the performing bug! It's a very exciting time. Please enjoy our photos of past Showcase Performances by clicking here.

Our studio is located at 62 Orbell Street in Sydenham. We have two studios with sprung floors to maximise our dancers' comfort. There is a waiting area for parents, changing rooms and toilets for dancers and a kitchen area as well. View the location map here.

We charge our dance fees on a monthy basis, charged at the beginning of the month throughout the year. This is to spread the costs evenly.
We have worked this out based on the amount of minutes per class per week and averaged out across the year and then divided into a monthly amount. This is to spread the costs evenly for parents throughout the year. If the students choose to participate in the Showcase Performance there will be additional costume fees for that and also examination and competition fees are extra, as required. For all our class fees for 2021 please download our Class Fees document.

Our Teachers

Sara Anderson teaches the bbodance ballet classes, preschool dance and adult dance classes. Meri Bonet, from Barcelona, is the current teacher of jazz dance, contemporary, musical theature and Broadway heels dance classes. Learn more about Sara and Meri.

Parents & Siblings in Class

Generally we welcome parents and siblings in the studio to watch and observe your child, especially for the preschool dance classes. However, we ask that you keep noise to a minimum to avoid distraction or you may be asked to wait outside in our comfortable waiting space. Water is allowed in the studio space but no other drinks or food is allowed. You may go outside the studio to consume this. Robert Harris Cafe is located in the same building as our studio and that can also be a good place to wait. There is a toy box there which is great for younger children.
